DKV 5: Campaign

This is the final assignment for the DKV 5 class. It was in the first half of year 2008.
The theme is free, we can pick any theme we want. And I choose a nationalist theme, that is the using of Indonesian language.

Some Indonesians, especially teenagers and young people, like to use so many English vocabularies in their daily oral and written conversation.
It makes them forget, and sometimes don't know at all, about the Indonesian vocabulary for some words. Or, some people are just too lazy to find out what are the Indonesian words.
Their phrases sound very disorganized, disordered, messy, and sometimes uneasy to absorb.

And there are some concerns that the Indonesian words for some words would finally be forgotten.

So, this is my campaign.

The title is 'Jangan Biasakan EYD!'
It means Don't get used to EYD.
EYD is actually a famous abbreviation in Indonesia refer to the right, good, perfect way to use Indonesian language.
It is abbreviation from 'Ejaan Yang Disempurnakan' or enhanced spelling.
But in my campaign here, 'EYD' is 'English yang Diselipkan', means 'Inserted English'.

So the basic concept is changing every words those usually are in English, with the Indonesian words.
The audiences are young adults and teenagers, 15 - 23 years, mostly high school or college students, mostly female, upper middle class.

This is the copy-write for the t-shirt. It is a traditional poem called 'pantun'. It is a 4 lines poem which the 2 first lines are not connected with the next 2 lines. The 2 first lines are the opening, and the next 2 are the main message. Pantun is very famous in Indonesia, and usually is used for fun.


The pantun above is translated:

"Going to the market to buy a codet (traditional cooking tools)
Watching young man singing dangdut (traditional Indonesian music genre)
How come you asked me for a date!
Sorry, but I'm already sold out!"

I am always so good in making pantun. When I was in junior and senior high, our Bahasa Indonesia teachers sometimes made pantun battle in the class, usually boys versus girls. So we had to tease our opponent with pantun. In other classes, boys team always won the battle. But in every class I was in, the girls team are always the winner.

Yeah I'm really good in copywriting.

The concept is written language, so I made it like teenager's notes on a paper.

I also made pins, and brochure but the digital data had already gone. Maybe I will find the printed data and post it here someday.
